DIYs Suck Sometimes
We’ve all been there before. You find an awesome project on Pinterest that just looks so simple. You spend your hard-earned money on all the stuff you need to pull off this epic project. You hire your sister to babysit for the day, you crank up a little reggae music, and you channel your inner Martha. Only problem is, your inner Martha was at brunch that day and you ended up with a big fat disaster of a project that takes more time to clean up than it did to execute.
DIY projects fail sometimes. It’s part of life. If we were all experts, then no one would have jobs. So instead of crying over spilled paint and throwing out every paint brush you own, just kick back and read the fails of another fellow DIYer. You’ll instantly realize that we all suck at this sometimes. And later on (waaaaay later) your DIY Fail story may actually be pretty dang funny.
That’s where DIY Fail Diaries come into play. Once a month I’ll share a real-life story of a real-life reader and how they royally screwed up a project. I’ll also share some pro-ish tips on how others can avoid that mistake. Think of it as part therapy and part learning. Learning from the mistakes of others, while getting that horrific mess-up off your chest and helping people avoid it as well.
To submit your DIY Fail story, tell me all about it below. If your story is chosen, you’ll be notified at least two days in advance so you can be on the lookout.
