Around this time last year I was hosting our Open House to show off our new home to our family and friends.
Oh my goodness, you guys, I was so excited!
I had done quite a bit of work in the prior two months and I couldn’t wait to introduce everyone to The New House.
My mom painted like a madwoman (it took a million coats to cover the horrible paint the house came with) and my brothers helped me build furniture and update the kitchen.
My poor hubby works swing shift so he didn’t get to help with the housework too much, but he had his fair share of furniture building and heavy lifting in between work and sleep time. You spouses of swing shift workers are smiling right now because you totally understand.
For the Open House party, I made these cute Rosemary Infused Olive Oil favors and they were such a huge hit!
In case you missed this last year, I’m sharing it again.
It’s such an easy DIY that anyone can do and they really are a sophisticated party favor.
Just keep in mind that you need to start making them about two weeks before your event.
Start by drying out rosemary sprigs for 48 to 72 hours.
This step is the most important of all because if there is any moisture at all in the herbs, harmful bacteria can form in the olive oil.
Harmful bacteria = icky bad guys inside your body.
Don’t do this to your friends and family. You love them, remember?
I set the sprigs in the sun during the daytime and on the kitchen counter at night for three days.
When there is no more bend in the sprigs you’ll know they are dry enough for preserving.
Push the springs into small pre-washed and dried glass bottles.

Next, funnel in extra virgin olive oil to fill the bottles. Amazon sells bulk EVOO for a pretty low price compared to local grocery stores.

The bottles I chose had dasher inserts for the top which made it perfect for letting the oil out but keeping the rosemary in.
Then just close the lids super tightly and let them sit for at least a week, preferably two.
This gives the oil and the rosemary time to get acquainted with each other.
Date a little.
By the time your favor recipients are ready to use them, the oil and herbs will have become besties and told each other all their secrets.
They hold hands and go see movies and share bottles of wine together on Saturday nights.
And how pretty are these labels?
It’s amazing what a little time in Photoshop can do.
You can print the labels right here for free on sticker paper and cut them out.
Then just plop them onto your bottles (make sure there’s no oil on the outside or it won’t stick) and be ready for your friends to think you ordered them from a fancy market.
There’s also a link on the label for recipe ideas and important care info like how long it lasts, where to store it, and what the heck they should even do with it.
I bought all my supplies from Amazon for this project. One, because we’re a Prime member and they ship really quickly, but mainly because I’ll do anything to avoid going to the grocery store. It’s my least favorite thing to do. Ever.
Besides pumping gas. I hate that the most.
