Well, it’s not really my birthday, but it is In The New House’s birthday! On this day, one year ago, I launched this blog and shared my very first post. I started In The New House as a way to share my home projects with my friends and family. Boy, how things have changed since then! Not only do my family and friends stop by to see what I’m up to, but I’ve grown to an audience of over 3000 viewers a month. I never intended to have so many awesome followers but I am so grateful for how things evolved. I have made so many awesome friends in the last twelve months and achieved so many great things.
The biggest change this year was we finally got that New House I’ve been talking about since day 1. Moving from the hubby’s old bachelor pad rental to our very own home was such a big deal for us. I am in LOVE with this house and I’ve worked really hard to put my personal stamp on it.
I also launched In The New House Market last month. What an honor it is to not only fill my home with gorgeous farmhouse-inspired decor I love but to provide them for others as well. I am always so excited to wake up in the morning and get to do what I love. Owning my own business is indescribable. I wish the me now was able to tell the teenager me how proud I’ll be of myself.
Some of my other favorite highlights this year include:
I switched from a beginner WordPress account to a full-blown self-hosted website that 100% completely belongs to me. Everything you see on my site is controlled by me and there is no middle-man. I’m a real-life business owner baby!
I finally learned how to use Twitter after spending years making fun of “the young kids” for tweeting. A year ago, I didn’t even know what a tweet was other than a way for celebrity super-fans to communicate with each other about latest gossip.
I started Inspiration Thursday and get to link up with new bloggers and make new friends weekly. I know this sounds cheesy, but I genuinely look forward to this event each and every week. I am constantly impressed and humbled by the talent my peers have.
Speaking of new friends, KariAnne from Thistlewood Farms, my favorite blog EVER, became my new friend! And visited my blog. Multiple times. And conversed with me. That made this entire year worth it.
I got a new kitten, Anakin (hubby and son are Star Wars fans, obviously) and he is so stinkin’ cute and so stinkin’ rotten. You can see him on my Instagram account. I post pictures of that mischievous little face all the time.
I chopped ALL of my hair off. I went from long, to medium, to pixie. All in a couple of months. Not blog related, but hey, this is my post and I’ll say what I want to. All you ladies that rock pixie cuts know the act of bravery it takes to go through with that first cut appointment.
In honor of my blog’s birthday, I’m offering a special gift to you, my readers, because it’s your birthday too! You guys have stuck around all this time and really keep me motivated. For that, I want to offer 15% any purchase at my online store In The New House Market.Use the promo code birthday now through October 31. No funny business, no strings attached, no minimum dollar amount. Just a birthday gift. Because you’re awesome.
Here’s to many more birthdays. And many more friendships and accomplishments to come. I’m so happy to have you along for the ride.
Love you all!
