So I am a full month into making my new house my dream home and I finally got around to one of the “little” projects that I’ve been ignoring. My walls are the perfect shade of cream (Cream In My Coffee by Valspar) and the trim is a crisp white. But the white door was just so…normal. And boring. And way too bright for the muted colors I’ve decorated with. So it was time for a change. I’ve seen pictures all over the internet of painted interior doors and I love the look. I decided to take the plunge and bought a small can of grayish-blue paint (Woodlawn Silver Brook by Valspar). The change was so simple but so dramatic.
Here’s the entry wall as it was when we moved in. Very…um…earthy…
Here it is after we painted the walls. The white door seems out of place.
And here’s the wall after we painted the door.
I just love how it turned out. So much that I painted the interior back door, too! You’ll see that next week, along with the rest of the living room (that I strategically cropped out of the picture) when I post the much-anticipated House Tour you’ve all be asking for.
Still need convincing before you head out to the paint store? Check out these great photos of other homes with painted doors.
